The Air Force is finally moving forward with plans to decommission the A-10, including squadrons based in Tucson, but a new special ops mission will be moving to at Davis-Monthan AFB — bringing the first "tail-dragger" combat propeller plane in 50 years.

This has been coming a long time, but it will be sad when there’s zero chance of witnessing A-10 training flights while on the boneyard tour. I have to imagine they won’t be kept intact for long. There’s a lot of titanium to recycle in these birds that’s way too valuable to leave baking in the yard.
