According to a recent poll, nearly one in four Arizona Republicans think the Grand Canyon State should secede from the United States, a desire for secession driven by Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, who overwhelmingly are more supportive of seceding across the country.

Anytime you see these articles about secession, hear them for what they really are: “we [Republicans] want to be free to oppress minorities without those pesky civil rights the US Constitution & judicial precedence grants”

That’s what it was about during the civil war, that’s what it’s about now. Except with more razor wire & dead refugees.

When you see these articles, it’s your responsibility to not say “gOoD rIdDaNcE”, but rather “No, I will not allow you to fucking murder brown people, thank you very much.”

Sure, arguably that’s why AZ isn’t as bad as other states on this metric. AZ dems are a different breed - we’re less conflict averse.

I think this poll highlights just how different Arizona is, even among other “purple” states like Georgia and Nevada. The closest state to ours in sentiment is Oregon - a blue bastion state.

The closest state to our sentiment, that is also a swing state, happens to be Michigan.

FWIW, it looks like AZ isn’t that high on the list. That “honor” belongs to Texas.

The interesting part, to me, is that 31% of Arizonans (both dem and rep) support another state seceding, but only 23% believe in a right to secede. So, what’s up with that 8%? Is that the “Let me get my popcorn” platoon?

EDIT: y’know, it seems like folks didn’t read the article. There’s a lot more nuance here than “republican bad”, but y’know, nuance and modern performative progressivism don’t match.
