Hehe me too!! (First post on Lemmy too…no more lurking since I’ve found “my people”!)
My obsession at the moment is with internet privacy and reducing data available to insidious ad companies….
But my usual staples are always Star Wars (I love it all - don’t get into the arguments/opinions about it either as I just love it all) Cycling (MTB and gravel cycling as well as bike packing) and Aviation/Aerospace (it’s my job too) ☺️
Then I think you’re ready to make the full jump to FOSS. I was into Linux when I was a little pre-teen, and I’ve only gotten more into it as big data hungry mega corporate induced culture preyed upon us.
I still use Twitch and Discord but I finally deleted my data on Instagram, Twitter, Reddit and rn I’m working on doing the same for Microsoft and Google. Goodbye Android.
Was not clear enough, I ditched Googled Android for technically AOSP. LG V40, currently on LineageOS, jumping ship to Evolution X probs this week.
Although I’ve been paying close attention to PostmarketOS and as soon as a better-esh phone than mine gets dialy driver support by the community I’m finally making the full switch to Linux.
I’m currently using GrapheneOS on a Google Pixel 6a (a legitimate way to degoogle, ironic as it may sound). I used to run LineageOS on my previous phone.
I have tried porting pmOS to one of my old phones for fun, but never succeeded unfortunately. Maybe it will be a feasible option in the future?
You’re right. I haven’t catch up with Mobile. I actually stopped using GNOME personally but I’ll won’t lose track since I gotta maintain my partner’s laptop on vanilla Fedora.
Pixel 7 Pro for personal use and an iPhone 14 Pro for work. I would like some of the polish of iOS in Android and some of the ease of use and less restrictions on iOS but both have their pros and cons.
Absolutely however I do not own a person computer currently as I have to use one for work - when I did own one until recently I usually ran Manjaro on it. I started tinkering with Linux back in the days of early Ubuntu as an alternative to Windows XP :)

Android is FOSS, you don’t need to leave Android.
Out of curiosity, what kind of phone are you using at the moment, if not an Android phone?

I almost got one second hand but the Qi charge was a deal breaker.
Even if it isn’t,
Phosh
itself is still going strong to the point that I can see it 99.9% merged into GNOMEmaster
.I doubt Phosh will merge with GNOME, since GNOME Mobile already exists and might even be overtaking Phosh.

I worked IT for a while, making sure I could run Linux on my work computer was a priority in every job.
Unfortunately I don’t work in IT - Aerospace Engineer and don’t get a say in IT and operating systems generally!
