    Good question, I dug around. The article mentioned “Dirty Thirty”, which was an entire corrupt NY precinct that led to their imprisonment.

    The Wikipedia article for Dirty Thirty lists charges, but it looks like not even all 33 of the arrested officers received charges, and the charges listed don’t look very severe for the number of people they harmed.

    Also from OP’s article:

    Gardine was immediately placed in immigration detention and faces deportation, as it’s suspected that he entered the country illegally from Jamaica as a teenager.

    That’s insane to immediately deport a guy you wrongfully imprisoned for 27 years.

      It’s like that scene in Airplane when people line up to slap the hysterical woman around except here it’s government authorities.
