I’ve been playing the original Quake, as well as Deus Ex. I’m not normally a fan of boomer shooters, but Quake has been surprisingly fun and interesting. I realize this might be a complaint for some, but I appreciate the simplified arsenal of weapons. It puts more focus on enemies and the level design, which I appreciate.

Deus Ex is fun, but it hasn’t had the moment where it fully clicks for me just yet, like Prey did. I’m still enjoying it, but I’m curious to see if it really grips me like some other immersive sims do.

It bothers me a little that classic masterpieces have earned the moniker “boomer shooter.” Millenials grew up on those.
Quake is legendary… To this day, I rock a Quake symbol on my hard hat right next to the NIN sticker.
Deus Ex is dated in practically every way now, but in its heyday there wasn’t much else like it, save for System Shock I and II. It was an absolute juggernaut back then; I can’t tell you how many times I played through that game as a teenager.
