Games@lemmy.world•Is there a game that combines Civ with Sims?English
24·2 days agoYour likely best bet is whatever you’d call the genre RimWorld is in. RimWorld itself could probably scratch that itch if you up the number of colonies you can have in the settings and add a few mods that expand the world map-level gameplay.

Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•Which game have you been most patient for?English
2·11 days agoHa! It’s a bit poorly named, but what the mod actually does is edit out most of the anime reaction sounds in the cutscenes. It’s surprisingly subtle - there are still plenty, but they’re placed where it makes sense instead of characters exclaiming with every slight movement they make.
The mod page has a comparison video with the base game that shows what I mean, but if the noises didn’t bother you then more power to you. Just be careful - I hear they can be contagious.

Games@lemmy.world•Is £70 becoming harder to justify? The rise of cheaper blockbuster gamesEnglish
9·17 days agoGTAV has made over ten billion dollars, one billion of that in its first three days. They would have earned more than double its entire lifetime development costs (estimated at ~200-250 million) if they’d charged a twentieth of what they did.

Games@lemmy.world•Is £70 becoming harder to justify? The rise of cheaper blockbuster gamesEnglish
17·17 days agoThey’ve monetized GTAV so thoroughly via Online that they’ve given the game (including single player) away for free because they still made a profit off of it.
Charging $100 for a sequel they’ll definitely monetize even worse is the epitome of greed.

3·19 days agoThe first ten to fifteen levels look like they’d be tedious to replay after every death. Maybe have them only occur the first run per play session and the timer/restart point begins after that?

65·22 days agoThe “support” was clearly a hallucinating AI agent, and Ubisoft has already clarified that the game is still supported and should get a patch in the future. This is yet another example of how replacing employees with LLMs doesn’t actually work.

RetroGaming@lemmy.world•I've played Chaser (2003) and let me tell you...English
2·24 days agoChaser is a 2003 FPS from Cauldron, who would go on to create all time classics like Secret Service (2008) and Cabella’s Dangerous Hunts 2011.
As an aside, anyone who hasn’t seen the madness that is Cabella’s Dangerous Hunts 2011 and its 2013 sequel, please watch the linked videos (especially the second). Those games are insane in a way that’s hard to put into words.
