Um. What else would it be?
And who’s downvoting that? lol
They want to expand the defininition.
The harsher sentences and expanded definition of sexual assault is fine and all, but sexual assault is often never reported, and when it is, good luck convicting the rapist when they do go to court.
We need to better enforce laws, convict criminals, and make it so that victims of sexual assault feel safe enough to come forward.
Maybe it’s different in Europe, but we are failing sexual assault victims in Canada and the United States.
Defintely. It’s the judicial/criminal process that is the issue in my opinion. Victics have no protections and are treated worse than accused. It’s better in Europe, but far from good.
Ita always going to be hard to get convictions on a crime that takes place in a closed environment with only the accused and defendant as witnesses. The only solution I’ve seen anyone come up with is Scotland wanting to remove Juries for sexual assualt cases, which people are rightly up in arms about.
