This is especially bad for reviews. There’s so many dodgy review sites that take bits and pieces from actual reviews but lack any actual substance (for example, comparisons with other competing products are very shallow and don’t properly explain the differences). You really have to be aware of which review sites are legit and which are just spam.

My hope is that the mechanization of the written word / artistry will result in such a deludge of low tier nonsense that the people of earth will just stop using the Internet.

Then it can just be me and you ❤️

And now, it’s not just news-producing sites; a while ago, I tried to look for the dimensions for the toilet and bath sections for a typical Filipino home, and lo and behold, two identical GAI cobblin’ sites appeared on top of the search results!

So many sites just outsource to content farms and have flooded the internet with SEO crap for years. With automation making this easier and cheaper it will probably only get worse.

Right now, generally well know sites like Wikipedia are fine, random people’s blogs are fine, but the first google result from some random company is almost guaranteed to be shit.

Soon we’ll need people running after these deceivers to cut them down . . . as if with a blade.
We can call them Blade Runners.

Mainstream news outlets are just copying what their corporate sponsors ask them to say 99% of the time anyhow

And in my country, Japan, news organizations have been just copy-pasting official statements and oversea articles anyhow, making translation mistakes 99% of the time.

What can I say, I prefer automated news writing over their low-ass shitposting.
